Tyson's Story

On June 9th, 2010, Tyson Feairs visited his optometrist, Dr. Campbell, in Cold Lake, Alberta for a routine visit to discuss the mild headaches and blurred vision he had been experiencing.  His optometrist noticed an irregularity with the retinal photo and suggested a OCT scan for the eyes. The OCT scan confirmed Dr. Campbell’s concerns and Tyson was booked for a full head CT scan in Edmonton the very next day.

Married for 37 years, with four grown daughters, four grandchildren and a fifth on the way, the future looked bright for Lorna Battershill. In December 2009, her world was turned upside down. She was diagnosed with three brain aneurisms. “It’s like being told you have three ticking time bombs inside your head”, says Lorna.“I was terrified.”

Andy's Story

On July 19, 2007, Andy Lopushinky was enjoying an evening motorcycle ride when a deer darted into his path and the two collided.  In a fraction of a second, Andy's life changed dramatically.  His motorcycle repeatedly rolled and he sustained massive, life-threatening injuries.

Shane's Story

Like many young Canadian men, 21-year old Shane Lehman grew up playing and loving the sport of hockey. He excelled at the game, playing Junior A with the Spruce Grove Saints - participating in a vigorous practice and game schedule.

Excellent health is something most young athletes take for granted and Shane was no exception. Heart failure was the furthest thing from his mind as the hockey season ended and he set out to enjoy the summer in 2009.
