Out for a Walk One Minute, Chest Pains the Next
How the Maz saved Jim Hutton's life

After going for a walk one afternoon, Jim Hutton began feeling chest pains – right down to his fingers. Having no risk factors - an active lifestyle, non-smoker and no history of heart disease in his family - Jim didn’t think much of the symptoms.

Out the next day for another walk, sure enough the exact same symptoms were present. This time Jim made the right choice, he went to the hospital.

The first tests they did at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute came back normal. However, knowing something was wrong, the staff ran more tests. Jim ended up having quadruple bypass surgery.

“Coming to the Maz was a godsend,” says Hutton now. “I can do things now that I couldn’t do when I was 40,” said Jim Hutton, after a quadruple bypass surgery at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. “I cannot say enough good things about the care I received there.”
