Preventention and Rehabilitation

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and disability in Canada.  Prevention and rehabilitation are vital in reducing the impact of this disease.

The Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute is committed to advancing prevention and rehabilitation through a multi-disciplinary approach.  Patients and families have access to highly trained professionals for follow-up care such as dietary counselling, exercise and lifestyle counselling, as well as stress management.

We thank the Foundation donors who have directed their support toward the advancement of prevention and rehabilitation in the new heart institute.

  • The Allard Foundation Patient Education Centre provides resources and information on the prevention and treatment of heart diseases.
  • The Jim Pattison Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Centre, located on the main level of the heart institute, provides an extensive range of outpatient and inpatient services.
  • The Jim Pattison Centre for Heart Health  provides the space and resources for an interdisciplinary team of rehabilitation specialists to work with cardiac disease patients following surgery.
